Frequently asked questions
Is PixelForge really free?+
Yes. There is no account, no paywall, and no limit on how many images you convert. The tool is supported by lightweight advertising.
Do my images get uploaded anywhere?+
No. Every conversion happens locally in your browser using canvas and WebAssembly. Your files never leave your device.
What formats can I convert from?+
Anything your browser can natively display — JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP, AVIF, and SVG — plus HEIC/HEIF (iPhone photos) and TIFF, which are decoded on-device with a small helper library.
What formats can I convert to?+
PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, or BMP. PNG and BMP are lossless; GIF is limited to 256 colors; JPEG and WebP are lossy with an adjustable quality slider.
Can I convert multiple images at once?+
Yes. Drop or select as many files as you like — each is converted independently, so one problematic file will not stop the rest of the batch.
Why isn't RAW (CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG) supported?+
RAW camera formats require proprietary demosaicing algorithms that are not practical to run inside a browser, so they are intentionally out of scope.
Does PixelForge work on mobile?+
Yes, PixelForge runs in any modern mobile browser, including on iPhone for HEIC photos straight from your camera roll.
